A cheery and somewhat implausible story of how a young lady with polio conquers her fears and most of her physical disability. When Blythe Hyland moved with her family to their Arizona ranch, she was pale and listless. When the almost visionary prospect of riding again arises, however, Blythe learns that a will makes a way. Further developments, when she gentles the lovely wild mare, Dark Sunshine, for her own; success in school; the wherewithal for a musical education presented to her by the man whose life she saves, and a cheerful disposition account for Blythe's eventually healthy outlook and the end of the crutches. The solution is too simple for horseless, school-less sufferers, but the tone is wholesome, the adventure diverting.
