THE SUSIANNA WINKLE BOOK by Dorothy M. Pierce

THE SUSIANNA WINKLE BOOK

By

Publisher: Dutton

Everyday rhymes about everyday things done by an everyday little girl. They have the appeal the Aldis' verses have -- the Dorothy Baruch and the Tippett verses are somewhat along the same line, but more modern. The introduction by Patty Hill of Teachers' College, Columbia, is an opening wedge for school recommendations. There's an age gap in the appeal -- as the first three quarters of the book place Susianna at five or thereabouts, and the last quarter jumps her to ten. Sell for the younger age appeal, however.
