ABC OF BUSES

Somehow buses just don't seem to have been designed with the alphabet in mind. Within the rigid framework provided by the familiar twenty-six, there is some fundamental information about the operation of buses. Too often, however, the text is forced into irrelevancies like ""Helicopters are used as buses to fly from airport to airport"" or foolishness like ""Klickety-klank klickety-klank! The driver's coin holder makes a wonderful bank."" Both the text and pictures have the attribute of covering a lot of recognizable territory, but reference is frequently made to details on different types of buses without an explanation of which type of vehicle is which. The posterish illustrations are flat, clear, thoroughly adequate, but not enough to carry the book.
