ELLEN'S BLUE JAYS by Dorothy Sterling

ELLEN'S BLUE JAYS

Blue jays are the main focus of this book -- how they hatch, are nurtured and finally leave the next. Ellen, like the reader, is a wide-eyed onlooker who follows the age old metamorphosis from winter through summer. Miss Sterling again demonstrates her knowledge of simple woodsy creatures with the same facility shown in so many of her nature books, and with an eye toward awakening youngsters to the wonders found in their own backyards. Ellen is a witness to the scrawny helplessness of blue jays at birth, to the care lavished upon them by doting parents, to the development of their instinctual patterns.
