FEAST OF REASON

Shrewd satire combined with sense and sensibility in this portrait of a phoney progressive girls' college, ""Future College"" (all front and no backbone). Susan gets the job as dean, and discovers the emptiness behind the front, and the inadequacies of the feathery, brittle woman president. Susan wins the confidence of the girls and eventually proves her facts to the trustees. A good woman's book, somewhat along the lines of Elinor Rice's The Best Butter. Dorothy Walworth is at her best in her satiric moments; she gets a bit slushy when romance appears.
