A knowledgeable book, that corroborates, in general, many others, though it diverges in details, concerning Japan, her leaders and her people. It emphasizes the scope and thoroughness of the education for the ideal of world domination, how cults have been devised to further this aim, how Western teachings have been perverted to this end. It underlines the fact that Japan is no tool of Hitler. There is comment and amplification on the liberals, the militarists, the feudalists; on the question of possibility of inside rebellion; on dealing with Japan in victory. Not specifically repetitive, but neither better nor worse than, for instance, Eckstein's In Peace Japan Breeds War, to which it is closest (see page 85 -- 2/15/43). Controversial as any definition of this country is bound to be.
