THE PICTURE LIFE OF ELIZABETH II by Douglas Liversidge

THE PICTURE LIFE OF ELIZABETH II

By

Pub Date: April 21st, 1969

A picture album puff that overstresses Elizabeth's constitutional role and overstates the esteem in which the Royal House is currently held. Also, It focuses on the Queen's characteristic activities rather than on her life span; there are none of those old snaps of Elizabeth and Margaret with pets, of Elizabeth learning to change a tire during the war, or whatever. Neither, in these mostly dated, often unflattering photos, does she ever get her skirts up to her knee. No gilding, then (except of the Crown itself); just a brief, bland glimpse of a dutiful woman projected into prominence.
