A PARENTS' GUIDE TO THE EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN by Dr. David Goodman

A PARENTS' GUIDE TO THE EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN

With emphasis intelligently placed on the relationship between parents, Dr. Goodman presents a convincing argument that indeed the sins, or in this case, the problems of the parents are visited on the sons. Proceeding in a popular vein, he implores the parents to gird the child with understanding and nurture it with love, stressing that within the average marriage lie the potential seeds of harmony. Dr. Goodman's implication that having made one bad marriage, the individual is likely to make a second, his almost tyrannical insistence that at all costs a marriage must be saved, particularly when there are children, will be questioned by many. Geared only to those marriages which essentially are sound, which are not troubled by pathological disturbances, this is a book which in essence resembles the syndicated ""advice to the lovelorn"", a book lacking subtlety, profundity, or scope-- a placebo for those with a minor but prevalent ill.
