BE ACTIVE AND FEEL BETTER

In line with the present day emphasis on physical fitness, the Lairds, who have fought the good fight against loss of memory, sleep, and vigor in earlier books continue their remedial recommendations and present current scientific thinking on the ill effects of the sedentary life and soft living. If you must sit- at work- there is the proper way; the disuse of the body leads to all kinds of atrophy as well as more serious conditions (coronary disease), and countermeasures include bicycling, stair climbing, rapid walking and trotting, deep breathing, lifting and carrying exercises- as well as more sociable sports (bowling, etc.,) if you prefer them... Older people particularly will find the regimen workable and valuable- harder to take are some of the verbal chin ups (from ""the punk of condition"" to the ""pink"").
