Dr. Baruch talks it out for the concerned parent and covers not only the physical and emotional world of the adolescent but also the problems encountered in adoptive and broken families. Her approach is to understand your own feelings as well as those of your child; to help that child fulfill his task of gaining an identity in a worthwhile way. She analyzes parents' complaints and fears and indicates the complex landscape of the teen ages in which they are involved. In individual cases and general directives, she also covers the need for sex enlightenment, the thought and fantasy that may lay behind an overt ignorance, curiosity or fear, the ways in which such information may be handled. There is material too on helping to achieve independence, the approaches to jobs, to friends, and even clothes. There's a great deal of helpful instruction here for the parent who is interested in this problem area and in its time sense it follows her previous books. For the market in which her name has proved its worth.
