KIRKUS REVIEW

All about mountains for those interested in hiking and the out-of-doors and who are fascinated by natural phenomena. Dr. Lane discusses the various types of mountains -- the fold, the block and the dislocation; plateaus, passes and valleys, and of course, volcanoes. Mountains everywhere -- in Asia, the Himalayas, Karakorums, the Hindu Kush Mountains, in China, Africa, Europe's Alps, the Carpathians and the Pyrenees and the mountains under the sea. Non-technical natural science which makes pleasant reading.
