Picking up the dropped stitches of Consultation Room, the California obstetrician adds a few details, stories, fillers about his practice. He gets intimate -- too intimate -- about all kinds of things from births to Caesarians to genes to sterility. There's the little over-sheltered girl of 12 who becomes pregnant; there's a reporter father's notes on the birth of his son; there's the man who wanted a test tube baby for reasons of inheritance, etc. etc. And there's the doctor-patient bond which boomis considers essential. Some sentiment -- some schmaltz -- it's a serious sort of ""speaking of operations"" -- comparing notes et al.
