COLLINS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ANIMALS

Since the introduction opines that ""the substitution (of the word animal for mammal) is not permissible"" it's a mystery why this one-volume encyclopedia of mammals, translated from the Czech, should be called an encyclopedia of animals. Anyhow, the basic data and sketches, arranged by order and family and augmented by longer, anecdotal essays on the better known animals (mammals) might be useful as a supplemental reference.
