REACHING FOR THE MOON

The distinguished Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El in New York, Dr. Julius Mark, here shares with a wider public some of his most notable sermons. They are urbanely wise, well grounded in the temper and needs of the modern world, and also firmly established in the great prophetic tradition of Judaism. There are four major sections: I. Faith for Our Times, II. Jews and Judaism, III. Christianity and Judaism, and IV. Religion and Society. Within these categories, Dr. Mark offers a wide variety of fine preaching which reveals a deep feeling for the Jewish ethical and spiritual tradition, a deep sense of the basic comradeship of the great religions of the world, and a deep dedication to the duty of social idealism. This book of Jewish preaching at its best should appeal not only to Jews but to Christian spiritual leaders as well.
