A Woman Doctor's Handbook on Pregnancy and Birth presents medical information in non-medical terminology and while there is little to distinguish, this in content from other books which prep the prospective mother, the tone is pleasant and personal. Determining pregnancy, early symptons and dangers; the doctor's examination and clothes, smoking, drinking, working; the inside story- fetal development; weight and the right foods; discomforts and deviations from the normal pregnancy; labor and delivery (with only modifying comment on natural childbirth, hypnosis, etc.); the hospital stay and routine- and home again with your new baby. A first book for a first time around, and there obviously is a constantly expanding market.
