KIRKUS REVIEW

These were published last year but reached too limited a market and are now republished. There is always a problem confronting parents as to selection of Bible stories, close enough in language to the King James version to serve as a stepping stone, and yet edited so that children will not be discouraged by the phraseology and by the inclusion of long passages of little interest to them. Dr. Harrison has made careful selection of the stories, has retold them with good pace and zest and has used the familiar text as much as possible. There are close to 100 stories in the two volumes; the first volume goes from the story of creation through the story of Samson, following the chronological historical order; the second volume carries through from Samuel to the prophets.
