KIRKUS REVIEW

Amiable, animated reminiscences from a former zoo director about some of the more unforgettable episodes. Like getting a pet squirrel out of a tuba. Or capturing a runaway baboon come back to visit friends. Or trading saber-toothed tiger bones for three white kangaroos--via Alfred Hitchcock, a favorite of the Australian owner. Standard information (eating habits, life expectancies, etc.) is tucked in when relevant which enhances readability.
