KIRKUS REVIEW

This is the season for baseball stories and here is one neither better nor worse than the run-of-the-mill. As a great short-stop, Eddie is a high-priced asset. But when, with a big part of his year's contract unfulfilled, he injures his leg and is useless to his team, life looks grim. But guts, grit and stamina pull him through and he becomes a solid pitcher and morale conquers once more. Plenty of sport talk for fans.
