KIRKUS REVIEW

Russ Woodward is the switch hitter who comes to the Blue Sox and starts wowing everyone with a batting average in the high 300's. But he swats with a seeming vengeance that soon gets him more enemies than home runs and that manifests itself as a cover for a severe disappointment in his imprisoned embezzler father. Misbehaviour nearly gets Russ kicked out but he sees his mistakes in time to patch things up with his mother and brother and to start hitting homers again. On the right road.
