A BIOGRAPHY OF EDWIN A ALDERMAN

By

Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

To graduates of University of North Carolina, Tulane and University of Virginia -- and to many Southerners -- the name of Alderman may carry weight. But this seems solely a memorial job, of slight interest outside the field of education, for three fine colleges grew in stature under his administration. This is his life story, drawn from letters, papers, addresses. He contributed to popular education, to the extension of the craft of teaching; he was an evangelist crusading for popular and social functions of education, for the underprivileged and the Negro. But the book makes dull reading.
