THE LUCIUS BEEBE READER

A posthumous (memorial) collection of Lucius Beebe's writings--he was of course the celebrant of cafe society, an admirer of affluence, a gastronome, railroad and wide open West enthusiast, and, in the introduction by his friend Charles Clegg, a stylist (less noticeable to the casual reader). These assorted pieces are about old Boston where he grew up, some of the members of his family, odd thoughts about advertising or television (he loathes crass commercialism) but most of them are about fine foods in fine restaurants, from the Plaza and Le Pavillon in New York to the Ritz in Paris to the Cavendish in London, etc. If you remember, -Lucius liked the luscious life at every level--here commemorating the man and his habitat. He'd like it, but who else will?
