A toughie, this story of California, of rackets, fanatics, scandals, thugs, etc. Christmas brings a corpse to recently jobless Kirby, who has just met Hannah, writer of true crime stories with pix. He is prime suspect for this and two other killings, so the two link forces in investigation and eventually solve it. 'Ware libraries.
