LANDS OF THE INNER SEA by E. Adolphe Roberts

LANDS OF THE INNER SEA

Roberts has built a sound reputation for his factual knowledge and understanding of the Caribbean area, and this is evident in his latest book, which is, however, definitely intended as a guidebook. He covers an enormous amount of space- geographically speaking:- Cuba; both Havana and the interior; Jamaica; Puerto Rico; the Virgin Islands; Trinidad and Tobago; Barbados and British Guiana; the Dutch Guianas; Martinique and Guadaloupe; French Guiana; the Windward and Leeward Islands,- with special emphasis on his favorite of the group, Dominica; Haiti and The Dominican Republic; the Bahamas and Bermuda. He gives concrete advice on where to stay, what to see, and the highspots of interest, as well as a concise historical background and a brief survey of the political and economic picture. Competent- but lacking in the Strode or Eleanor Early flair.
