AERIAL ODYSSEY

Required reading for anyone planning a trip to the Caribbean-- and good fireside reading for those who do their travelling at home. The author is an inveterate traveller, war correspondent, observer -- and has a faculty for setting down his impressions in vivid words, so that -- in a case such as this -- the reader feels impelled to go where he leads. That in spite of the fact that he frankly tells of the unpleasant and trying details of the seamy side -- Turkishbath atmosphere, dust, poor hotels, mosquitoes and so on. For Mexico he has only praise -- and offers it as a ""blurb"" to any Chamber of Commerce. His route took him to inaccessible spots -- so he travelled by Pan American Airways, and visited Haiti, San Domingo, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, the Leewards, Trinidad, British Guiana, Venezuela, the Central American Republics and Mexico. Possibly a bit ""guide-bookly"" in spots -- but good reading at that -- and filled with facts, personalities, amusing stories -- and atmosphere.
