SCENERY FOR THE THEATRE

A textbooky volume dealing with materials, construction and mechanics of scenery. Of little interest to the creative designer, other than in presentation of data on materials and construction methods. Contains tables, charts and illustrations of particular value to the theatre technician or workman and is probably the most comprehensive compendium of rudimentary knowledge in a single volume now available, though there is nothing particularly new nor not covered elsewhere. A book for amateurs, by an amateur, for it describes methods discarded in professional theatre and contains some advice to which most scenic experts would take exception. However, all in all, it is a business-like compendium for the theatre student.
