An amusing fancy of a proper bear family with up-and- coming ideas and plenty of personality, without being saccharine. Very successfully gay and gaggy- and the children loved it. From the moment we meet Charles Bear, whose father, sad William, was a travelling salesbear with a mission, this family becomes altogether the reader's concern. Ursula Bear's ingenious black salve which was to end the use of bear's grease; the housing problem; the trip to Yellowstone (they slept on that idea and slept right through the winter)- adventure after adventure, each sillier than the one before, with plenty of laughs for family reading, and humor that is always good-natured.
