THE CHOSEN

A book of definite Catholic appeal and one that is frank and honest in its story of five boys who enter a Catholic seminary to train for the priesthood, and of the only one who followed through to his goal. Boys with serious interests will find plenty of mental and emotional and spiritual adventure as the five Brooklyn boys contrast seminary as well as home life experiences, as the basic motivations are laid bare. How mechanics and money claim one, family life another, business the third, dislike of obedience the fourth, and how Martin alone was strong enough for service to a wider reach of humanity. The contrasts are well defined -- the types appealing.
