This night almost be defined as an extension of the material used her Come. fiction term. again the period is grim phase of the Russian revolution when people and suffered and stood in lines, in when country sections , when the and feared and suspended of the upper classes who had deliberately chosen Russia and rather then death or escape. is one of them, and this is the story of struggle for survival; own willingness to life, job after job, because of her friends and her accent and her aristocratic hands. But gradually she won the doubters and the scoffers, she made true friends, she kept a job as teacher, she proved a heroine when the floods came, and she almost buried her own distaste for poverty and sordidness in appreciation of the sterling qualities of her Russian people...This book will almost inevitably have a hurdle to take in that it stresses a period which these sympathetic to Soviet Russia would rather forget. But it has an authentic ring of history.
