Young Niura Pavlova's life in St. Petersburg, her birthday parties and her early interest in dance culminate on that great day when she is accepted into the Imperial Ballet School. An interesting description of the rigorous requirements and organization of this school in which Niura (now called Anna) was trained, indicate the exalted status of the ballet in Russian society. Her years of hard training finally won her a role in the ballet, ""The Four Seasons"" performed at the famous Mariinsky Theatre. For those balletomanes who have thrilled to her later achievements, this description of Pavlova's youth should be of interest.
