FIVE WERE CALLED

Six life stories, linked through a phone call made by an ex-convict, pushed around by life, jailed in the place of another, and now freed, to find the woman he has always loved. His calls, in seeking her identity, lost through her marriage, come at a crisis in five lives; and through the accident of the telephone call, the crisis is averted and hope revived. There is a rather moral tone which lessens the effect of the story as a unit. Philadelphia background.
