KIRKUS REVIEW

Frankly, it is hard for as to judge the market for this. It seems to fall short of being scientific or comprehensive enough to be the book on the subject for professionals; it lacks the quality of contagious enthusiasm for a subject which might make it interesting for those mildly concerned in agricultural procedure. However, for ""gentleman dairymen"" and so on, here is the history of established American breeds, Holstein, Frissians, Ayrshires, Guernseys, Jerseys, Brown Swiss, Shorthorns, with individual chapters contributed by authorities, and connecting historical material and general material contributed by the author, himself a dairyman, owner of Mt. Hope Farm, Williamstown. Good source material with liberal documentation. Chapters on group or herd testing, on breeding, etc.
