A SECOND COMPANION TO MURDER by E. Spencer Shew

A SECOND COMPANION TO MURDER

By

Publisher: Knopf

This continues the pattern of the first volume, A Companion to Murder (P. 444) in its annotations of other varieties of murder, here more especially violent. The introductory Table of Murder gives the categories of cases of death, (of, by, on, at , in, etc.), with references also to verdicts, unsolved killings, reprieved killers, women tried for murder and other divisions of this crime. Again specific mention is made of judges and counsel in leading trials, and of detection and punishment, and there is cross reference within the sections. The list of contents encompasses entries in both books (those in the first in italics) with the judges and counsel and miscellanea separated from the rest; a bibliography of 230 books, and an index of names not given separate entries in the text (again the italics for those in the first book) facilitate use of the material. ""Abinger"" to ""Zeitoun"" fill in this half century of English criminal cases.
