THE CASE OF THE CONDEMNED CAT

Bossy McGurk doesn't show any of the bratty genius of Encyclopedia Brown and the upshot of this case of murder--actually bird slaughter--would be more sad than funny if it weren't so patently contrived. Hired to clear Whiskers Williams, a cat accused of killing his neighbor's pet dove, McGurk eventually lays the blame on old Gramp Martin next door, but he could never have done it if Gramp hadn't gone out of his way to supply more incriminating evidence. In all, as flat as a mouthful of pigeon feathers.
