Cloying, confessional recapitulation of the courtship and marriage of Dusty and Red, who meet when Red summers in the New England village where Dusty teaches. Because of the disparity in their backgrounds, Dusty hesitates to marry him, then goes through with it and returns with him to his country club setting, where she finds disillusionment in Red, in a life of bridge and golf, in lack of service to those less fortunate. She turns to social work, and ultimately interests Red in his obligation to his community, and he wins political office on a slum clearance platform. Plenty uplift -- and hard to down. Sunday School libraries, perhaps!
