....and Other Sports Stories, is a warm collection by the loved author of Monkey Shines and Touchdown Trouble books with the elements of human growth and understanding tied inextricably in with sports. These in their smaller way do the same. Among the dozen heroes, there is scrapper Pete Gallagher from Hoboken who wins a catcher's berth with the Dodgers; sixteen year old Willie whose father gives him more than a run for his money in a tennis tournament; Tom a rancher's son who is convinced that understanding will gentle a bronc, and show up a blackguard. Simple all, but definitely healthy for the addicts.
