THE ART OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

It seemed like a good idea: find a man who is always speaking and have him write a book on how he does it so well. With that in mind, McMahon, a man who has earned millions with no visible talent other than his voice and hearty laugh, sat down and dashed off the following: give yourself time to prepare a speech; be aware of your audience; speak for no longer than 16 and 2/3rds minutes; work up to the jokes; keep the crowd on your side; rehearse your speech. Terrific stuff, huh? The writing, in keeping with the thought that went behind it, is simple. The book moves at the pace of a 30-second commercial. Broken into 10 fairly straightforward chapters--including the classic ""A Speech I'm Proud Of""--the book quickly becomes very embarrassing. Suffice it to say that what little you may know about public speaking before reading this is all you will know after you've completed it.
