KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of this volume of sermons is a preacher of note and a student of the art of preaching. His long ministry at the Central Woodward Christian Church is Detroit earned for him the reputation of being one of America's great preachers. Now in ""retirement"", he keeps constantly active, preaching, lecturing and writing. In this his twenty-fourth book, he publishes fifteen of his favorite sermons, some of which he has preached over a hundred times. Preachers will appreciate this book because of the revelation it gives of how one master-craftsman prepared and delivered his sermons. The preface is really a description of Dr. Jones' own homiletic method. The style of the sermons is a little on the grandiloquent side, but the use made of illustrative material gleaned from prodigious reading is enlightening. A preacher's book for preachers.
