This interpretation of the Gospel to St. John is much more readable than the general run of commentaries. While based on sound and original research, this book is not designed to be a reference book for the New Testament scholar. Rather it is aimed at ministers, church workers and laymen. The thesis of the authors is that the Gospel of St. John was planned to be a new and authoritative interpretation of the life of Christ. The book was planned to high-light the divine nature of Jesus, the pre-eminent place of the Holy Spirit and the revelation of God in Christ. Only such material as support these emphases is included, the authors point out. Professor Colwell is dean of the faculties at University and Professor Titus is on the faculty at the School of Religion at the University of California. To be highly recommended for its fresh approach to the subject and for its arresting style.
