HOW CAME THE BIBLE? by Edgar J. Goodspeed

Email this review

Dr. Goodspeed, one of the greatest living scholars, makes this story of the evolution of the Bible an intensely interesting one. Although authentic in source and background, it is written in a lucid, concise manner which everyone will enjoy. Here is the story of the wars, the prophets, the scrolls and papyri, of the loss and discovery of bits here and there and of how they were joined together, and of the many quests for missing books, from the Old Testament, The Apocrypha, the New Testament to the new translations made in the light of recent discoveries. A good book for Lenten Study classes, or for a series of talks. Each chapter is followed by a questionnaire of pertinent questions and there is a review, summary and bibliography section that is most helpful.
