THE CASE FOR COMPULSORY BIRTH CONTROL

By

While well aware that we are living in an actual wasteland, Mr. Chasteen (Assistant Professor of Sociology at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.) is not afraid to add to the litter-ature on overpopulation. He reviews our past thinking (Malthus, Spencer, Marx), the opposition (religious, social, etc.) to contraception, before getting down to his one-point program which is that of his organization, Zero Population Growth: namely that each family should be restricted to two children and any excess parenthood should be ""punished."" The presentation is wordy, the tone insistent and an occasional claim is silly -- everyone knows, particularly the late Dr. Blaiberg, that we haven't achieved ""death control"" with heart transplants.
