KIRKUS REVIEW

A Manual of Essentials, here is one of those be-a-success guidebooks, this time for the salesman or woman. Attitudes --toward the customer, boss -- suggestion selling, telephone tips, how to handle difficult customers and difficult situations, role of advertising and promotion, display work, all briefly touched on with the usual Mr. X and Mr. Y case work and self-questionnaires at the close of the chapters. This is definitely for the untrained applicant for it is of primer-like simplicity. The author is training supervisor of R. H. Macy and speaks from experience and is palely Dale Carnegie-ish in her attitude toward her subject.
