There is color and atmosphere in this short, easy reading story of a most engaging little boy. ""Dogie Boy"" was a foundling discovered by a group of cowboys, and given by them into the care of Miss Abby, who looked after the Mexican babies living around her. As Dogie Boy grew the cowboys gave him the little motherless calves to look after and he had a small herd he called his own, and a dream that someday one of them would win the blue ribbon. The Colonel, who owned the biggest ranch of all, was on the lookout for champion possibilities, and recognized the makings in Dogie Boy himself. Armstrong Sperry's illustrations will doubtless carry out the appeal of the story, though this is a new setting for him.
