A unique addition to the growing list of Appleton biographies. One feels that the novelist runs away with the biographer, perhaps, but it makes good reading, this recreating of the life of Mary Magdalen. Edith Olivier accepts the identification of the Magdalen with Mary of Bethany, sister of Lazarus. She also accepts the legends surrounding Mary's retirement to the seclusion of the cave in Provence. Whether or not one quarrels with her thesis, it makes good reading. Sales value in her name as author of Dwarf's Blood, etc.
