YOU ARE AS YOUNG AS YOUR SPINE

A doctor once described a woman as two legs and a back. Editha Hearn, not a doctor, a physiotherapist who has maintained a successful clinic in Brazil for fifteen years, prescribes for all women with backs and all men and claims that 90% of all from-the-neck-down pains are due to discs. This seems to be a fairly limited organic field of vision, but functionally it comes down to the same thing since most backaches respond to most of the things she recommends (some you may have learned from experience, some from any good osteopath). Manipulation and traction by professionals--surgery the last recourse-- and before and between, exercises, not a hard bed (?), and the right sleeping, sitting, walking, bending, lifting positions.
