BOSTON WAYS: High, By and Folk

As the title indicates, this is a loving discourse upon Boston hung upon its streets, the broad ones, the small narrow, crooked ones, and the little inaccessible courts. If it is almost unintelligible without a map (maps as well as photographs are included), it is packed with all sorts of anecdotes about places and people which set forth the Boston temper, and it is written in a leisurely style that meanders much as the winding streets it follows. The historic points of interest, taverns, homes, churches, statues, etc., are all part of the literary topography here and make up an informal guidebook to the city, if not thoroughly distinguished in style. A local market- chiefly.
