THE RINGED HORIZON by Edmund Gilligan

THE RINGED HORIZON

By

Publisher: Scribner

Good sea adventure, sequel to The Gaunt Woman (January 1943) but not actually dependent on that tale though some of the same characters appear. Judith, beloved of three men, cannot decide between them. This is Captain Bannon's story -- though through most of the telling, he assumes that Judith belongs either to Bartley Noone or Ton Nollet. But the romance is subordinate to a stirring, holding story of the Wild Rose and the part she played in the grim battle being waged on the Grand Banks, where Gloucester and Nova Scotia fishermen brave hidden terrors in order to bring back the needed catch. Good going -- once one gets beyond Gilligan's indirections.
