THE STRATEGY OF TERROR

The war of nerves, the most destructive of Hitler's new weapons, is here analyzed from its inception. Taylor, correspondent of the Chicago Tribune, has kept meticulous diaries sine 1938 in Europe, and has studied at close range the insidious tactics used, from Munich on -- bringing the story up to May, 1940. Dissension, rumors of fear, manipulations of public opinion, traced through conversations with the man on top and the man in the street. He shows how government officials changed their policies fundamentally as they realized what was happening, how counter propaganda was set up to offset the German machine. It is a fascinating study -- a valuable one. We hope it wont be submerged in the intense concentration on history taking place in double quick time today, for the principles are having far-reaching effect on this country now.
