COMMON SENSE CORONARY CARE.... AND PREVENTION

For many years, in syndicated columns and some 15-odd books, Dr. Steincrohn has been writing about heart disease. Actually he has very little new to say about it here, nor do we about his book. His earlier ones dealt with much of this material beginning with the doctor patient report; continuing with the physiology of the heart and its concomitant afflictions; considering heredity, tension (he differs with the most recent findings seen), cholesterol (important), diet, alcohol- a little in modertion, and exercise which he firmly contraindicates. Where Dr. Steincrohn will be most helpful will be in relating the coronary patient to the specifics of the life he should lead-both right after the attack and over a longer period of time if he is to survive: such particulars as whether or not to fly, have dental surgery, take ld showers.... Firm, reliable, and in some cases, prophylactic guidance.
