CISSY'S TEXAS PRIDE

Cissy, her Dad's ""little pardner,"" pitches in to raise the four thousand dollars that is needed to save the farm from foreclosure. If the money can't be earned, Texas Pride, the quarterhorse who is Cissy's ""most prized possession,"" will have to go. But there's never a moment's dissension in this family and Cissy (whose greatest ambition is to ""be as pretty and sweet as her mother"") gives riding lessons, helps her mother's at-home baking business, and even earns one hundred and eighty dollars selling Christmas wreaths made of spray-painted punch cards and tumbleweed (!). The note gets paid in time and Cissy gets Texas Pride deeded to her from Dad ""to have and to hold as long as she desires."" Togetherness, Texas style. . . but the family account book is this here's most exciting piece of prose.
