THE SILVER WAND

This is out of the usual run of refurbished fairy tales, in that the stories selected (a collection of 13) are not the hackneyed ones, with two or three exceptions, and the stories are abridged to the length beginning readers can compass. Contains two particular pets of my childhood, Norse fairy tales not always readily available -- The Princess on the Glass Hill and East of the Sun and West of the Moon. The illustrations suggest a simplification of the old Rhead type of pictures.
